Andy Santerre Pikes Peak Win NASCAR Busch Series 1999
First off, I apologize for the bad quality of the video. I have this race on VHS and have no way to record it directly to my computer or DVD. Add that I have a poor quality digital camera... sorry, but at least it's here.NAPA AutoCare 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colorado on July 24, 1999. This is the restart with four laps to go and Victory Lane.Andy Santerre of Cherryfield, Maine captured his only NASCAR Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) victory in this race. Santerre broke his leg in six places after a crash in Daytona in February. He returned to Busch Series competition at Watkins Glen, and two starts later, he won his only race. He held off a tough Tim Fedewa to get the win. He and Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a great battle earlier, but Earnhardt spun and crashed off the nose of Todd Bodine's car.Santerre went on to win four consecutive NASCAR Busch North Series (now Camping World Series East) championships from 2002-2005.
